Wynmor Owen – Sculptor
All of the cliffs and rugged terrain around Wynmor’s home in North Pembrokeshire is full of inspiration.
From a few of the outlying farms he has acquired many of the humble, discarded oak fence-posts and old used roof slates which have become the vehicles for his creative thoughts. Then on his workbench and with a limited number of hand tools he has the ability to create these original sculptures which are so appealing to the eye as well as the soul.
Wynmor was born and bred in Llangrannog and his father and grandfather were seafarers all their lives. As a family they had utmost respect and use of the very descriptive and treasured Welsh names of the headlands, bays and coves of the coastline.
He has emphasised their importance by lettering ninety-six of these names on the slates.
